The Volcano jet dragster is coming to Lost Creek

Things are about to heat up even more this summer, as "The Volcano" jet dragster is coming to Lost Creek Raceway this Saturday, Aug. 2 for the Montana vs. Idaho Shootout. Gates open at 8:30 a.m. at Lost Creek Raceway, 595 Galen Rd. in Anaconda.
The Volcano jet dragster is owned by the Haynes Family Racing. It has a Pratt and Whitney J-60 jet engine powerhouse producing 14,000 horsepower and 6,000 lbs. of thrust reaching speeds of over 300 mph in the quarter mile.
The late Chuck Haynes piloted jet dragsters for over 25 years all around the USA, Canada, Australia and as far as Saudi Arabia. He has numerous track records around the world with Chuck’s fastest recorded time at 4.95 seconds at 319.87 mph.
Chuck’s oldest grandson Tyler Jackson began piloting the car in 2020 and has made his own personal achievements in The Volcano car. Tyler’s fastest current time is 5:43 at 293 mph. He reset the Lewistown track record previously set at 276 mph when he ran 283 mph at 5.50 on June 14, 2025.
The crew consists of Tiffany Jackson, Sylvia Haynes, Clint Parker, Heather Haynes, Raylee Parker, Alex Allred, Izzie Parker, Kenley Parker, Jack Parker, Taylor Larson, Adam Larson, Aaron Larson and Pam and Don Larson.
