Two from AHS take second at Spring Swing; boys also second, girls third

Golf is certainly in the swing of things, as the Copperheads showed earlier this week by taking home multiple second-place finishes from the 2024 Spring Swing in Missoula and Frenchtown.
Both Tanner Cromwell and Logan McKay earned second-place finishes for the boys’ and girls’ tournaments, respectively. The Copperhead boys as a team took second as well, and were just six strokes back of Jefferson County High School for the top spot, while the girls’ team finished third behind Florence-Carlton and Loyola-Sacred Heart.
Cromwell had ended the first day of the two-day tournament with a share of the lead after an even-par round of 72 at Missoula’s Canyon River Golf Club on Monday, tying him with Tyson Lee of Jefferson County High School. The senior finished five strokes off the lead with a round of 77 on Tuesday at the par-71 King Ranch Golf Course in Frenchtown for an overall +6 score of 149, second only to Lee’s 144.
Aidan Tuss also medaled at the tournament for the boys, finishing in sixth place after shooting a 16-over 159 (80, 79) across both days of the tournament.
Bradley Wolfe (+21, 82, 82, 164) tied for 11th place, Kellen Connors (+35, 86, 92, 178) finished 20th, and Jesse Jones (+44, 96, 91, 187) was 29th.
McKay led the way for the girls, firing off an 86 at Canyon River and was one stroke off the lead from Mia Nicholas for the lead after the first day. She went on to shoot a 94 at King Ranch to finish the tournament with a +37 score of 180, 11 back of Nicholas’ 169.
All the Copperhead girls finished in the top 25. Blakelyn Cline (+89, 113, 119, 232) was 14th, Quincy Saltenberger (+92, 126, 109, 235) was two back of her at 16th, Grace Galle (+98, 123, 118) was another two back at 18th and Cate DeSanto (+115, 129, 129, 258) finished 24th.
Next up for the golfers is the Top 6 Meet at Shelby on Monday, April 29.
