Snowbird's no advantage as winter lingers at Men's League

Going into the final week of the first half of men’s golf league, Saltenberger Plumbing looks unbeatable as they picked up another solid showing of 26.5 points on Tuesday night.

Andy Stetzner absolutely obliterated Haufbrau/AOH’s Joe Mehrens. Stetzner (who lives in Anaconda year-round) fired a score of 37 to earn his team eight points against Mehrens (who goes south during the winter). Kramer Smith’s round of 45 took six points against Leo Graham. As did Rob Kellegher against Jack Mehrens while Duane Smith picked up 6.5 against Steve Graham.

Sitting in second place is Connor’s Law Firm with their number one player, Curt Gannon, taking seven points against S&K Wago’s Jake Kelly. Gannon’s round of 35 would also earn him low gross of the evening. Casey Dee squeaked out a narrow victory against Keith Anderson with his round of 41 earning Connor’s 5.5 points. Greg Manson’s round of 42 may have matched Cory Orrino’s but it was Manson who would get the victory and earn his team 6.5 points while Rich Miller was the lone player to be defeated as Mike Kelly’s round of 50 earned seven points for S&K Wago.

Arguably the most entertaining team of the league, Sawyer Plumbing, found themselves in third place after Danny Edwards took the week off. Paul Johns took 6.5 points against KLM Logging’s Tim Krum. In Krum’s defense, his average driving distance was roughly 25 yards so it wasn’t that hard. Scott Driscoll found himself on the receiving end of a ‘Stone Cold Stunner’ as KLM’s Lee Klemann took seven points against Driscoll. Klemann’s net round of 31 also earned him a share of the low net honors. Speaking of low net, Nick Mikalatos’ round of 40 gross and 31 net not only put him in the low net category with Klemann, he also claimed an astonishing nine points against Kyle Fehrer. Cody Hanson, Edwards’ sub, fired a disappointing round of 47 but it was good enough to take 6.5 points against Roy Lorengo.

The deuce pot was shared by Brian Robbins and Pat Huber and Rob Kellegher claimed closest to the pin. 

League will continue next week at 6 p.m., however, these articles will not. I’ll be taking a short hiatus for the next couple of weeks due to the birth of our child.
